Mauricio Sotelo’s Muros de dolor...I (2005) speaks of the pain and sorrow of the soul. The strong and expressive character is achieved via a precisely calculated succession of “micro-intervals” and an expanded palette of “micro-qualities” of the tone. Mauricio Sotelo wrote Muros de dolor…I for saxophonist Marcus Weiss, who supported him significantly in the composition of the work with his knowledge of the saxophone’s capabilities and his experience as an interpreter.
